Systems Engineer job, Chicago. Active Directory, Exchange, SQL databases, firewall/switches, VoIP telephony

West Monroe Partners is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to oversee, manage, and support West Monroe Partners managed services clients. West Monroe Partners has both local and remote clients and resources that need support for their local and hosted infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will support server and network environments, including but not limited to Active Directory, Exchange, SQL databases, firewall/switches, VoIP telephony, and desktop/laptop applications. Also, the Support Engineer will work on project-based initiatives for clients, including upgrades to existing infrastructure and deployment of new technology. The position will be the escalation point for each of West Monroe Partners managed services clients for questions and issue resolution, whether completed remotely or on-site.

Qualifications:
Demonstrate an understanding of technology as it pertains to infrastructure and applications and be able to respond to client questions, perform upgrades and troubleshoot issues. Individuals must be able to discuss issues with the managed services clients and be able to effectively apply technology knowledge to a client situation. Individuals will be contributing to client satisfaction by providing clients with timely and responsive services and work products.

Specific skills include, but are not limited to, the ability to:
Thoroughly and accurately understand issues and analyze the problem in a systematic fashion.
Analyze each client's specific request and determine the underlying problem and recommend proper solution.
Serve as an escalation point for tier two support and provide advance troubleshooting capabilities
Understand and execute standard escalation procedures with tier two support.
Strong communication skills to be able to work with clients and assist non-technical users with troubleshooting remotely.
Strong background in Windows client operating systems and standard desktop applications (i.e. Office, Internet Explorer, anti-virus tools).
Strong background in Windows server platforms including Windows Server, Active Directory, File/Print, and Exchange.
Strong background in server management tools including , virtualization (VMWare, Citrix), backup, anti-virus, and hosted and cloud-based solutions.
Background in network maintenance including firewall and switching.
Assist in the definition and design of infrastructure solutions such as Active Directory, Exchange, virtualzation, security and voice solutions
Act as a project manager and/or technical lead for infrastructure deployments
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent required
2 – 4 years of similar work experience in a client facing role
Must have experience working with Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, File/Print, Active Directory, VMWare and/or Citrix, and server management tools (backup, anti-virus).
Must also have server admin and networking experience.
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft (MCP, MCSA) certifications preferred
Ability and willingness to travel nationally up to 25% and be able to travel to Chicagoland area clients
