Eaton’s Electrical Services & Systems division has an opening for a Field Engineer in our Power Systems Automation group. This position is flexible to be located remotely within a home office in the service territory of the Upper Midwest (IL, IN, OH, or KY)
Provides field service systems integration engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of system design, programming, installation, start up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of power management systems. The candidate must have experience in managing and deployment of power monitoring projects. The primary responsibilities of this position include; but are not limited to the following:
On-site implementation of power monitoring systems. Experience with Eaton systems such as Power Xpert, Foreseer, PowerNet is preferred, but experience with other vendors power monitoring systems is acceptable.
Please note relocation is not included with this position. Only candidates within the immediate geographic area will be considered.o BSEE, BSET, or a bachelor degree within a technical discipline plus 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience o Experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) software and power monitoring software packages. o Working knowledge of test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems. o Knowledge of troubleshooting, test and repair techniques. o Advanced understanding of the company’s and competitor’s automation and power management systems and services. o Computer literacy. Working knowledge of all software packages relevant to successful performance of tasks. o Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, SNMP, OPC, DDE, TCP/IP o Strong computer skills required including intermediate to advanced skills with Windows Operating Systems and Databases. Intermediate Networking skills including the ability to troubleshoot network hardware and interfaces, including Ethernet and Fiber are required. o A working knowledge of power quality meters, trip units, protective relays and UPS is required. o Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with automation and power management systems. o Has demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction. o Programming of PLC control systems (Power Control, Generator Control, and SCADA) is not required for this position but is highly desired.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to work with our geographically dispersed team. Applicant must have experience interacting with the direct customer on a technical basis. Applicant must be able and willing to work at customer sites, including industrial plants, which may require climbing, working in confined spaces and other unusual work environments. Salary band will be based on level of experience and education.
Travel is required with up to 25% outside of the candidate’s local service region and up to 75% within the candidate’s local service region.
