Every one of our employees loves photography, and we love to share that love of photography with our customers. And Newtonville Camera is not your ordinary retail employment experience - we're not a mega-chain-store. We're a locally owned, family business. The first requirement for consideration is that you must love (or at least strongly like) photography. You don't have to be a Pulitzer Prize winning professional photographer, but you must at least enjoy taking pictures.
The second requirement is that you must be an organized, motivated, team-oriented, and personable worker. We all pitch in to help customers, fulfill orders, improve the customer experience, and improve our workspace.
The third requirement is that you must have an in-depth understanding of digital photography. You must have command of most or all of the following concepts: focus, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, ISO speed, depth of field, depth of focus, bokeh, light metering, lenses, flashes, tripods, lens filters, single-lens-reflex-interchangeable-lens camera, mirror-less-interchangeable-lens camera, non-interchangeable-lens camera, image-sensor size, exposure bracketing, focus stacking, RAW processing, JPEG compression, color space, Adobe Photoshop CS 4 (or later), etc.
The fourth requirement is that you must be able to be patient and capable of enthusiastically explaining the above concepts to customers who are new to photography, or are looking to expand their photographic capabilities.
The fifth requirement is that you must be a good salesperson. You must excel at being able to show customers the value of the products and accessories that we sell, and to be able to truthfully and knowledgeably explain why more expensive items are worth the extra cost.
We have a part-time position available:
• Camera Sales / Customer Service (Part-time)
For the part-time position, you must be able to work (from open to close):
• In April on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (three days a week).
• In May on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday (four days a week).
• In June on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday (five days a week).
• In July through October on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (three days a week).
If we feel that you are doing a very good or excellent job, then in November we may offer you a (permanent) full-time position with benefits (5 days per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday).
