With over 1.7 million visits per month across three market leading websites, Boatshop24 specialise in bringing the buyers and sellers of boats together across the world.

Due to continued expansion we require another PHP developer to join our team to expand and enhance our portfolio of websites. The main focus of the role will be to enrich the quality of listings on our sites, improve the quality and processing of our data, and provide our clients with the very best web-based and mobile selling tools.

We are flexible with working location which can either be from one of our UK offices (Chichester or Sayers Common) or working remotely. We are also flexible with the contract type whether this be a 6 month contract or permanent employment.

Job Description:
Due to continued expansion we require another PHP developer to join our team to expand and enhance our portfolio of websites. The main focus of the role will be to enrich the quality of listings on our sites, improve the quality and processing of our data, and provide our clients with the very best web-based and mobile selling tools.


• Database storage, indexing and query optimisation.
• Replace or refactor existing codebases to follow modern MVC design patterns.
• Implement SEO strategies and make our content findable and accessible.
• Enhance existing applications to provide engaging experiences for our visitors and a richer suite of tools for our subscribers.
• Optimise the processing of XML data imports and exports.
• Assist with issue resolution and patch generation as required.


Skills Range:
• At least 3 year’s experience in a commercial LAMP environment.
• A good understanding of PHP and object-orientated programming.
• Experience of MySQL and database design principles.
• Knowledge of Javascript and jQuery is beneficial.
• Familiarity of PHP frameworks (especially CodeIgniter) a plus.
• Experience with Python (and knowledge of Django) an advantage.
• Familiarity with Agile development a definite plus.

No boating knowledge necessary (or lifejacket required)!

Salary: £25,000-£30,000
