SFO Real Estate Magazine Editor job, part-time contract position

San Francisco real estate magazine publisher seeks a creative, deadline-driven editor for a part-time contract position. Must have the ability to work as a part of a team to write informative and entertaining copy and headlines for an audience of apartment owners and others in the industry. Previous experience writing and/or editing for the rental housing or real estate industry is a plus.

Duties include compiling monthly news columns specific to East Bay rental market, writing quarterly business profile or feature, organizing and editing copy, writing imaginative headlines and deks, collaborating with art director on the creative direction of covers, writing cover lines that tie into the monthly theme, soliciting articles from industry professionals, and proofreading each magazine.

Position requires strong interpersonal skills for communications with client, industry professionals and writers and columnists. A majority of the work can be done remotely, with in-person work days four or five times a month. Ideal candidate should have a firm understanding of the political and cultural dynamics of Oakland and surrounding towns.
