Hillsboro Assistant Preschool Teacher job, Part-time work

Description: Early Learning Matters is seeking a part-time assistant teacher. ELM is a brain-based preschool/Kindergarten focused on providing experiences that nurture and facilitate the natural development of the whole child.

Qualifications
• Two years experience working with young children
• Minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or related studies
• Ability to provide three letters of recommendation from peers or supervisors supporting direct knowledge of abilities with children upon request
• Patient and calm demeanor
• Excellent classroom/behavior management skills
• Natural love and passion for children and their growth and development
• Willingness to accept, adhere, and promote the philosophy of Early Learning Matters
• Interest in an ongoing commitment of employment at Early Learning Matters for a minimum of two years
• Interest in expanding knowledge of current research and best practices related to teaching and learning
• Enthusiasm for teaching all ages 3-6 in a team teaching environment
• Excellent record of dependability and follow through
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with staff, directors, students, parents
• Ability to inspire creativity in children and an enthusiasm for learning
• Strong communication skills with children and adults
• Desire to continually self evaluate, set and prioritize goals, and strive towards excellence
• Current certification in first aid and CPR

Instructional Responsibilities
• Assist the Lead Teacher in facilitating lessons and experiences based on the learning objectives set forth by the Director of Early Learning Matters and the individual needs of the learner
• Work and play with students individually and in small groups
• Maintain an organized, clean, safe, friendly, and professional classroom environment
• Continue intellectual and professional development through trainings offered by Early Learning Matters, reading, and outside sources relevant to position
• Attend regular staff meetings
• Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Director
• Share personal strengths, affinities, and talents with students and staff to enrich the program

Evaluation/Supervision
The Assistant Teacher reports to the Director of Early Learning Matters, and performs an annual self evaluation. The Assistant Teacher will regularly create, assess, and adjust a set of goals and objectives for job performance and continued growth and development.

Hours: Position hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 11:30-3:00 beginning on September 9th and applicants must be available for staff training on September 6th and 7th. ELM follows the School District Calendar for holidays and school vacations. Additional hours substituting for other teachers are available and encouraged.
