Austin Presbyterian Development Officer job

Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services is seeking a Development Officer in the Austin area.

The Austin-based Development Officer is responsible for maximizing philanthropic support to enable Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services fulfill its stated mission of providing Christ-centered services to children in need and their families.

Essential Job Functions:

Promote awareness of agency's mission, and maximize philanthropic support from individuals, churches and other public and private constituencies in assigned region by building, fostering, and managing long-term donor relationships through effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Implement and manage the Benevon fundraising model in assigned region.
Counsel/educate donors regarding giving opportunities.
Meet/exceed weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for assigned region. Prepare activity reports as required in a timely manner. Meet with Vice President and Senior Development Officer on regular basis to plan strategy and evaluate performance.
Provide assistance as requested with agency development goals, marketing, public relations materials and related issues.
Provide assistance as requested to prepare annual operating and capital budgets for area of responsibility.
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:
This position works in an office setting and travels extensively within geographic region assigned making personal visits.
Uses office equipment including computers. May sit for extended periods of time.
Required to work daytime, evening and weekend hours (with some overnight travel).
Required to use personal car and will be reimbursed at the agency standard rate.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
College degree and/or significant employment experience in non-profit resource development position.

Need to have a strong commitment to serving children and families in need, within a non-profit Christian ministry.

Skills:
Knowledge of current fundraising best practices including but not limited to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of agency constituents; maintain a high degree of constituent contact including but not limited to face-to-face visits, telephone and email.
Self-motivated with superior interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to work both independently, as well as effectively in a team environment.
Possess the highest standard of personal and professional integrity; able to initiate, grow and sustain meaningful professional relationships among the ministry's constituents in order to maximize philanthropic support and fulfill agency's mission.
Trustworthy/able to maintain confidences in all matters related to the business and welfare of the agency.
Ability and availability to work daytime, evening and weekend hours with overnight travel. Position requires 15-18 Sundays annually away from home church attending worship/making presentations in other PC(USA) congregations.
Computer literate and familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software. Must also be able to use general office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax, and calculator.
Working knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge fundraising software preferred.
General understanding/ability to learn the polity (form of government) and culture of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Preference given to persons ordained as Elders, Deacons or Ministers of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
