Specific areas of research include steelhead kelt restoration strategies; status and trends in salmon habitat conditions; age, length and stock composition of Columbia River salmon and steelhead; sea lion investigations (enumeration, tracking and hazing); salmon smolt and lamprey enumeration. The Technicians will be assigned to one or several of these projects and will work in both laboratory and field settings. The positions are subject to availability of funds.

The duty station for this project is Portland, and we may consider part time temporary technicians for this work.
- Habitat project - Field research activities typically extend from mid-June through mid-October, and involve surveys of stream habitat conditions, macro-invertebrate sampling, and snorkel surveys of fish abundance. These activities involve long hours conducting physically demanding tasks in remote areas and inclement weather conditions. CRITFC maintains a field station in the town of La Grande OR, a 5 hour drive from Portland, where field crews will stay for weekly periods of 4 to 7 consecutive days during the summer.
