Pacific Interpreters, a company specializing in interpreting, is currently hiring for over-the-phone interpreters who are completely bilingual. An excellent mastery of English and Spanish is essential (interpreters receive calls from Canada and all over the United States) as well as having professional communication telephone skills. One year of medical interpretation experience is required. A formal medical interpreting certification/training program is preferred.
A typical call consists of a Spanish-speaking patient and an anglophone doctor who needs an interpreter. The doctor calls our call centre and is connected with an interpreter scheduled at that time. All our interpreters are independent contractors; thus you control your own schedule. You are called during the times that you choose and you work from home.
