Our Marketing Team is looking to add a high achieving proven writer capable of creating compelling content for web and print based campaigns. A strong candidate for this position must be able to take the most boring, straight-forward subject and write such prose as to leave a reader laughing and/or crying, cheering, moved, and ultimately making a purchase on our website. To succeed in this position, a candidate must have a strong personality that comes across in their writing, along with an ability to understand the target demographic and write for them. In addition, the candidate must understand the principles of promoting, showing, and selling products, building awareness, and developing brand identity in the retail/ecommerce industry. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating copy for marketing, advertising, promotions and sales support materials, along with working with our team members. The candidate must be capable of working in a team and collaborating with others, regardless of the fact that many writers consider themselves loners. The goal for this position is to define and maintain how we communicate with our customers and outside parties as well as define and maintain our brand image. This is a full-time position in a fast-paced and growing company.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain effective promotional and communications material including press releases, articles, scripts, presentations, emails, and more
• Edit content for both web and print marketing campaigns
• Align messages through various types of media
• Help develop and maintain the company's image and identity
• Gather and organize information and translate into persuasive & compelling language
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and executives to obtain information and discuss the style & direction of each piece

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required, with emphasis on Marketing, English, Journalism, or Advertising
• Working experience in copywriting in retail environment or at an ad agency is a must
• Extreme Attention to detail: style, copy & message
• The ability to write in a variety of styles
• Strong knowledge of the English language: superb writing and verbal skills
• Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
• Positive attitude and strong work ethics, ability to multi task and perform in a fast-paced environment is a must
• A sharp mind with the ability to grasp concepts quickly and work out complex situations
• Retail/e-commerce experience preferred, knowledge of SEO & online marketing concepts is a plus
• High comfort level with software and technology especially Microsoft Office & the internet
• Knowledge of the sporting goods, hunting, law enforcement, military, astronomy, birding and/or eyewear industries a plus

Personal Characteristics:

To be successful in this position, you must have strong attention to detail, be able to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment and attend to multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure. Proven experience & comfort in copywriting is essential to meet the demands of this position.

Paladin is in search of a full-time freelance Web Content Manager/Writer to work on a year+ long contract with a Fortune 200 corporation in Northbrook. This position could turn permanent if it’s the right fit.

Location: Northbrook
Hours: 40 hours per week, flexible start/end time to avoid rush-hour
Duration: Could turn permanent, would be one year contract to start

The right candidate will have 4-10 years of web content management experience in either an agency, corporate or association environment. The Web Content Manager will be responsible for managing one of this corporation’s major web portals which serves a national employee base of more than 3,000.
